Letters and Sounds Phase Three adds further content to the Phase Two activities to help children master further graphemes, most of them comprising two letters. Phase Three content will help the children continue to learn grapheme-phoneme correspondences, blending and segmenting and word recognition, as well as new activities to help teach the alphabet and the letter names.
Letters and Sounds Phases Two and Three can be used during whole class phonics teaching and by the children on both class computers and interactive whiteboard to practice and apply their skills.
Letters and Sounds Phase Three links directly to the objectives and activities suggested in Letters and Sounds: Principles and Practice of High Quality Phonics. Also covered are Development Matters goals from Communication, Language and Literacy in the Practice Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Letters and Sounds Phase Three can be set to use either Letters and Sounds or Jolly Phonics letter sets and to use either cursive, pre-cursive or print letter styles.
